CNN Apologizes After Airing Song With 'Nigga'

I confused here as to whether this can be considered racist. And if it is racist, who is being apologized for, for CNN airing the song? Or for the rapper in the song who said the word? Racism can be confusing sometimes...fun, but confusing....
